Foam Pipe Insulation For Reduced Heat LossFoam pipe insulation is a thermal insulation that helps prevent the loss of heat, and keeps the pipes safer in the colder months. This insulation reduces the energy needed and therefore can have a bearing on the environment for the better. When a pipe is wrapped with foam insulation, it retains more of its heat, so it’s closer to the actual temperature of the water running through it. When this is achieved, there is not as great a need to keep the hot tank turned up to its highest point. It also serves to protect anyone coming in contact with the hot water piping from being burned. On cold pipes, foam insulation can protect them from a build up of condensation. The foam pipe insulation also acts a noise blocker. A lot of mobile homes have their piping running directly beneath the floor of the unit. When foam pipe insulation is used, it lessens the noisy rush of flowing water, which is normally easily heard. Another useful application of foam pipe insulation is the fact that it reduces the amount of heat on any type of air conditioning piping. By reducing excess heat on pipes that need to stay cool, you reduce the overall costs of running such equipment. Foam pipe insulation has proven to raise the inner water temperature by 2 to 4 degrees Fahrenheit as opposed to uninsulated pipes. It also takes less time for your hot water to start when you turn on the tap. By producing hotter water faster, you reduce the amount of water used, and conserve more. All pipes should be insulated with the foam, especially within three feet of the hot water tank. You should also consider using the foam pipe insulation on the cold water intake pipes for the first three feet as well. Black tubular polyethylene foam pipe insulation in popular and supplied by many manufacturers. They come in many different thicknesses and lengths. There is also foam tape which is UV resistant and used to wrap exposed piping. |

The Basics of Rigid Foam Insulation
By Lee Andersons
Rigid foam insulation on ceiling is able to ensure that the heat is kept at a constant temperature. This is able to be achieved during winter and summer alike. This means that you are able to keep your house at a constant temperature and this in turn would create more comfort.

How to Use Soundproofing Insulation in a Home Theater
By Bruce Collins
Soundproofing insulation is something people tend to leave out when they are designing or updating a home theater space because of cost or because they don't think insulation is necessary. Soundproofing your home theater does not have to be expensive and it is definitely something you should focus on. Noise can penetrate from the outside into your media room. Sound can also escape the room and cause a problem for others within the home.
