Cellular Glass Insulation Stands Out From The Rest

Not all insulation is created equal, just like everything else in life. For those that want the best possible insulation, or for the hard to insulate commercial type buildings and equipment, cellular glass insulation should be your choice. Owens corning has been the industry leader since 1938. Constantly improving and developing new innovative insulating products of which cellular glass is one of them.

The process for making this type of insulation is by heating actual crushed glass to very high temperature’s so that it can be mixed with a cellulating agent, then it is put in molds. The mixture then expands as it cools forming the cellular glass insulation blocks.

The most common products are the cellular blocks that can either be tapered or flat, and also the blocks that are made for roof insulation, again, they are either flat or tapered. These roof blocks are then layered with asphalt and special paper called Kraft paper. One of the nicest features of these blocks is that they can be made into almost any size and shape to fit even your hardest insulating jobs.

The advantages of using cellular glass insulation are numerous to say the least. They are moisture resistant to prevent their breakdown. And also as you expect with any insulation, they are fire resistant, so they’re able to work in very high temperatures with out starting a fire, and can even help prevent the spread of a fire.

It is also one of the best insulation products to use in extremely low temperatures. The range has proven to be form minus 450 degrees to a staggering plus 900 degrees. Cellular glass insulation is also very strong when it comes to roofing insulation types. These are the major reason why cellular glass insulation stands out from anything else on the market today.
